Courage
From Courage the Cowardly Dog
Courage is the protagonist of the television show Courage the Cowardly Dog. He is a fuscia colored mutt, although he has also been classified as a hound by Eustace's mother, with a hole in one of his teeth. His parents were the same breed and color as Courage, but when he was still in diapers, they were sent into space by a deranged veterinarian who wanted to test the effects of breeding dogs in space. Courage ran in fear and eventually found himself abandoned in an alley in Nowhere.
Muriel Bagg, who was shopping in the city of Nowhere, happened upon the frightened pup and remarked that he had such courage, leading to his name. She adopted him and now he lives in the Middle of Nowhere, Kansas, with Muriel and her husband Eustace.
[edit] Characteristics
Although Courage is often scared out of his wits, he always manages to overcome his fears and save the day. He loves Muriel, who cares for him and pampers him. Eustace often scares Courage and treats him poorly, using his catchphrase "Stupid dog!". However, Courage still saves Eustace on many occasions, suggesting his desire to keep Muriel happy but also a possible affection between the two. Courage speaks English to the viewers and some of the animal characters in the series, but in gibberish to humans. He is able to briefly transform into any person, creature or object, though he retains his pink coloration.
